At the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies, the University of Vienna seeks to appoint a

Visiting Professor
of
Digital Media Theory and Aesthetics

(full time, for the period of September 1, 2024 – February 28, 2026)

 

The position:

 

Applicants have a research profile in media cultural studies and a relevant track record in the field of digital and network-based media. In addition, applicants should be able to demonstrate focal points in other research areas of media cultural studies, e.g.: historical formation of digital media, interactions between digital media, audio-visual media and performative arts; everyday cultural, artistic, political and social transformation processes that occur under the conditions of digital media; cultural formations based on digital media practices; geo-body-politics of digital media.

·         Doctoral degree/PhD

·         Outstanding research achievements, excellent publication and funding record,
 international reputation

·         Proven leadership qualities

·         Gender and diversity competence

·         Experience in designing and managing large research projects

·         Enthusiasm for excellent teaching and supervision at the bachelor's, master's, and
 doctoral level

·         Willingness to take on organisational and administrative responsibilities within the
 Faculty and/or the University
