of
Historical English Linguistics
The position:
The successful candidate will be an outstanding academic with a strong international reputation in the field of Historical Linguistics of English. We are also looking for a committed teacher, who can teach a broad range of topics in different subdisciplines of English linguistics at Bachelor, Master and PhD level, and who is willing to take an active role supervising at all these levels. We particularly welcome applicants whose work also engages with other areas of linguistics, such as sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics and educational linguistics. The successful candidate will also be expected to perform administrative duties and contribute to the management of the institute.

· Doctoral degree/PhD
· Outstanding research achievements, excellent publication and funding record, international reputation
· Proven leadership qualities

· Experience in designing and managing large research projects
· Enthusiasm for excellent teaching and supervision at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level
· Willingness to take on organisational and administrative responsibilities within the Faculty and/or the University
The University of Vienna expects the successful candidate to acquire, within three years, proficiency in German sufficient for teaching in bachelor’s programmes and for participation in university committees.
